Cleopatra beach

The Cleopatra Beach is the most famous beach in Alanya. It is located on the west side of the peninsula and the city center.

The beach got its name from the Egyptian queen Cleopatra who according to the legend has visited this beach and taken a swim in the turquoise water.

The beach is 2 km long and has fine white sand and crystal blue water. The fine sand is one of the main reasons the Cleopatra beach is so popular. There are several other beaches on the east side of the peninsula, however, those beaches have small stones and gravel instead of soft sand. So if you choose to be on one of the east beaches it could be a good idea to use flip-flops or other beach shoes when entering and exiting the water.

Along the beach, there are several beach bars that are serving simple food and drinks as well as renting out sunbeds and parasols. If you rather prefer, you can of course just bring your own towel and parasol and lay on the empty sand between the beach bar’s areas.

There are only two things you need to keep in mind when you are going to the Cleopatra beach. The first thing is to remember that the sand gets really hot during the summer, so it is wise to keep something on your feet when you are walking somewhere.
The second thing is that the sea gets pretty deep pretty fast and can be quite wavy some days. So if you have children or if you cannot swim it is good to keep this in mind.

Just by the Cleopatra beach, you have the beautiful beach walk. This walk goes all the way from the east to the west corner of Alanya along the beach, except when it is crossing the center. Along the beach walk, you have some training stations where you can do some training or look at some of the local people’s needlework. The beach walk is of course also full of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops where you can have a nice break or do some shopping.

As you can see, it is quite easy to understand why the Cleopatra beach is the most popular beach in Alanya, it has everything – beach, sand, sun, fun, relaxation, food, drinks, shopping, and view. What else can you possibly want when you are on the beach?
